Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2005

After seeing the original 1971 version I set out to see Tim Burton's version.

Of course this movie is also based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl.

And as in the previous version, Willy Wonka decides to reward 5 children to get to know his chocolate factory. To do so, he hides 5 golden tickets in his chocolate bars. These tickets allow them to enter this mysterious and magical place with an adult. All this tour is done with Willy Wonka as a guide.

To my surprise I liked it. Not as much as the original version but it is good. You can't compare Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka.

This version has a very marked difference with the previous one, here it shows more about Wonka. About his childhood and the relationship he had with his father. We understand why he decided to create the factory. I don't know if this will be told in the book because I haven't read it yet. But if it does it seems to me a very positive point for the movie.

Another thing I liked were the visual effects. And this is too obvious, considering that the original version is from 1971, that is 24 years ago.

Another positive point is the music. I thought all the songs were good. Nothing to do with the 1971 movie. And I found the Oompa loompa very nice.

In conclusion, I liked the movie a lot. I didn't expect much from it and it still managed to entertain me. And I say this mainly because children's movies are not my main interest.
