This is one of the most beautiful movies I got to see.
A few days ago I started my journey to get to know the Studio Ghibli movies. I have already seen the two most well known "My neighbor Totoro" and "Spirited Away". There is another one also very very very well known but I don't feel strong enough to watch it, yes, I'm talking about "Grave of the Fireflies" I don't know, I don't feel like suffering right now.
The memory of Marnie was recommended to me by my sister, maybe if she hadn't it would have been one of the last movies I would have seen. Big mistake. The story is about a girl who has asthma problems caused by stress. She feels lonely, ugly and stupid. She thinks she is different and no one loves her. Her adoptive parents decide to send her to some relatives who live in a very small town. There she will be surrounded by plants that can help her with her problem.
But she finds much more than that. She meets a girl with whom she gets along very well. But there is something strange about her. She disappears as if nothing happened.
The story is very touching and I think it is perfect for a teenage audience who are the ones who usually have the kind of problems that the protagonist has. This is one of those movies that you have to pay attention to, as the plot twist at the end leaves you speechless.
A story about loneliness and friendship. Told in a very original way.
This is one of the best movies I've seen, and I feel like I've been missing out on some Studio Ghibli gems.
